Leroidesanimaux, winner of the Eclipse Award for Champion Turf Male Horse of 2005, is to join the roster at Kirsten Rausing’s Lanwades Stud in Newmarket from next season.

Bred in Brazil by Haras Baga Do Sul, the 13-year-old son of the Blushing Groom stallion Candy Stripes won nine of his 13 starts in his native country and in North America, his three Grade 1 victories including the Frank E Kilroe Mile, Citation Handicap and Atto Mile after he was switched to the stable of the late Bobby Frankel.

Standing initially at Stonewall Farm in Kentucky, and later in Florida, Leroidesanimaux’s best son is the Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom, who has recently taken up covering duties at Arrowfield Farm in Australia. Other Graded stakes winners by the sire include Una Cabeza, Sarah’s Secret, Always A Princess and Leroy’s Dynameaux.

Leroidesanimaux hails from one of Juddmonte’s top families with strong links to the Newmarket stallion community. His British-bred Dissemble is an Ahonoora half-sister to the outstanding matriarch Hasili, the dam of leading sire Dansili and emerging young stallions Cacique and Champs Elysees.

“We are delighted and very proud to welcome “Leroi” to Lanwades,” said Kirsten Rausing. “He represents the reintroduction of the Blushing Groom sire line to the UK and with his pedigree, toughness and durability, marvellous racing form on both turf and dirt, as well as his proven ability to sire world-class performers, he will be an immensely important addition to the European breeding industry.

“His pedigree makes him a suitable mate for mares by Galileo, Danehill and his sons, Mr Prospector-line mares and others. It will be fascinating to breed him to daughters of Dansili.

Marc Haisfeld of HallMarc Stallions added, “We are excited to have Leroidesanimaux continue his stud career at the premier stallion operation of Lanwades Stud. European breeders will now have the opportunity to breed to this significant sire line again.”

Leroidesanimaux will be available for breeders to inspect from early November. His fee will be announced at a later date.
